Jumping Castle Safety Information
Safety is an essential part of every jumping castle hire. Whether you're organising a birthday party, school celebration or community event, understanding the correct safety procedures helps everyone enjoy the experience responsibly.
Our Approach to Jumping Castle Safety
Jumping castles and inflatable attractions provide entertainment for children and families, but they must be installed, supervised and operated correctly.
At Jumping Castle Hire Sydney, we recognise the importance of appropriate equipment installation, suitable operating conditions and clear instructions for customers.
Customers and event organisers are responsible for ensuring the equipment is used in accordance with the operating instructions, applicable safety rules and our Hire Policy.
Important: Safety instructions may vary depending on the inflatable. Always follow the specific instructions supplied with your hired equipment.
Six Important Jumping Castle Safety Rules
These principles help reduce common risks associated with inflatable equipment.
Adult Supervision
A responsible, competent adult must actively supervise participants throughout the hire.
Suitable Participants
Follow the inflatable's age, height, weight and participant capacity limits.
No Rough Play
Somersaults, wrestling, pushing and dangerous behaviour are not permitted.
Weather Monitoring
Monitor wind, rain and thunderstorms. Stop use when conditions become unsafe.
Electrical Safety
Keep blowers, cables and electrical connections protected from hazards and interference.
Secure Installation
Do not move equipment, remove anchors or interfere with the inflatable's setup.
Adult Supervision Is Essential
All jumping castles and inflatable attractions must be supervised by a responsible adult during use.
The supervising adult should remain attentive and ensure that participants follow the rules throughout the event.
-
Remain present
A responsible adult must actively supervise the inflatable while participants are using it. -
Control participant numbers
Do not exceed the manufacturer's stated capacity or any equipment-specific limits. -
Separate participants where necessary
Avoid mixing participants with significantly different sizes, ages or abilities where this creates a collision risk. -
Prevent dangerous behaviour
Stop pushing, fighting, climbing on external walls, somersaults and other unsafe activities. -
Keep entrances clear
Ensure entry and exit points remain accessible and free from obstruction. -
Respond to hazards immediately
Stop use if equipment, participants or weather conditions create a safety risk.
Jumping Castle Rules for Children & Guests
Before participants enter the inflatable, the supervising adult should explain the relevant rules.
-
Remove shoes
Shoes must be removed before entering jumping castles. -
No food or drinks
Food, drinks, chewing gum and lollies must not be taken onto inflatable equipment. -
No sharp objects
Remove sharp jewellery, toys and other items that could cause injury or damage the inflatable. -

Flips, somersaults and other dangerous manoeuvres are prohibited. -
No climbing on walls or netting
Participants must not climb, hang from or sit on the inflatable's external walls, netting or structural features. -
No rough play
Wrestling, pushing, tackling and aggressive behaviour are not permitted. -
Follow age and size restrictions
Only suitable participants may use the equipment, subject to its specified operating limits. -
Follow supervisor instructions
Participants must stop playing and exit promptly when instructed.
Preparing a Safe Setup Area
A suitable installation area is essential for safe inflatable operation.
Confirm Space
Ensure sufficient room for the inflatable, access points, anchoring and required clearances.
Check the Surface
Provide a suitable installation surface and disclose concrete, paving or other non-grass surfaces in advance.
Check Access & Power
Ensure suitable access for delivery and an appropriate power supply for the blower.
Follow Setup Instructions
Do not use the inflatable until installation is complete and operating instructions have been provided.
Our Hire Policy requires customers to advise us at least seven days before the event if installation will not be on grass. Power is generally required within 20 metres of the inflatable. See our Hire Policy for full requirements.
Wind, Rain & Severe Weather
Inflatable equipment can become dangerous during strong winds, thunderstorms and other extreme weather conditions.
Wind conditions must be monitored throughout the hire period. Equipment must be evacuated when wind gusts exceed the manufacturer's permitted limits or 40 km/h, whichever is lower.
Some inflatable equipment has lower operating wind limits, and those limits must always be followed.
Equipment must not be used when rain, lightning, unsuitable ground conditions or other hazards make operation unsafe.
If conditions become unsafe, stop use immediately and ensure all participants leave the inflatable safely.
For weather-related booking conditions, please review our Wet Weather Policy .
Electrical Safety During Your Hire
Most jumping castles require continuous airflow from an electric blower to remain inflated.
Customers must ensure that the electrical supply remains suitable and that blowers and power cables are not interfered with.
- Keep children and unauthorised persons away from blowers, electrical connections and power cables.
- Do not disconnect or switch off the blower while participants are using the inflatable.
- Protect electrical equipment from water and other hazards in accordance with the supplied instructions.
- Do not use damaged power cables, plugs or electrical equipment.
- Contact our team if the blower stops operating or appears faulty.
What to Do in an Emergency
If an emergency occurs, remain calm, stop equipment use and follow the relevant operating instructions.
Immediate Action Required
If the inflatable begins to deflate unexpectedly, becomes unstable, experiences unsafe weather or presents another immediate hazard, stop play and direct participants to exit as safely as possible.
Keep others away from the equipment and contact our team. For serious injuries or life-threatening emergencies, call 000.
-
Stop the activity
Immediately stop use when a significant hazard is identified. -
Evacuate participants
Assist participants to leave the inflatable safely, following the relevant instructions. -
Keep the area clear
Prevent further access until the hazard has been resolved. -
Seek medical assistance
Call emergency services on 000 if required. -
Notify our team
Contact Jumping Castle Hire Sydney as soon as practicable. -
Do not restart unsafe equipment
Do not resume use until it is safe and any necessary checks or approvals have been completed.
Do Not Move or Alter Hired Equipment
Jumping castles must remain correctly positioned, anchored and connected throughout the hire.
Customers must not relocate inflatables, remove anchoring equipment, disconnect blowers or attempt repairs.
If equipment needs to be repositioned, inspected or adjusted, contact our team for assistance.
Please also review our Cleaning & Hygiene information for rules about food, drinks, shoes, staining and equipment cleanliness.
